Passionate chefs enjoy creating spectacular food, beverages and desserts to pair with the amazing wines we’re blessed with us here in California. And that’s why it just makes sense that Tucker Wines in and Siena Bistro in San Jose, Calif. will be combining their strengths to wow diners on Thursday, August 6th for a winemaker four-course dinner held at Siena Bistro and featuring the cuisine of the restaurant’s Chef/Owner David Wiesner and paired with four wines by Tucker Wines.
Chef David is pleased to be involved with Tucker Wines and anticipating an elegant evening on August 6th. “I’ve created some dishes that I feel will really complement these remarkable wines from Tucker Wines.” He said. “At Siena Bistro, we always want to explore new ways of preparing and serving food while using the best ingredients we can find and then coupling it with the finest wines available in California. It’s every chef’s dream and that’s why I’m so excited to be working with Tucker Wines. They’ll both be on hand to answer questions and discuss their wines on August 6th and I know it will be an educational as well as delicious evening.”
Winemaker Greg Tucker makes amazing wines by adhering to a philosophy he believes strongly in. “My basic philosophy has always been to source the highest quality grapes available; monitor each distinct vintage carefully through every unique growing season; employ the simplest of old-world winemaking processes and styles,” he said. “This approach has served me and my wines well during my relatively short winemaking career.”
The price is $65/person (tax & gratuity additional) and there will be only one seating at 6:30 pm. Call for reservations. (Credit card required for reservations and 48-hour cancellation required to avoid $20 person penalty.)
Willow Glen, Calif.—Most of the year, Siena Bistro in Willow Glen serves Mediterrean-style award-winning cuisine prepared and conceptualized by Siena’s Owner/Head Chef David Wiesner. But, on Saturday July 18, from 5 pm to 10 pm, Siena Bistro is converting itself into a Spanish Villa, when Wiesner and his staff will host their fourth annual Paella Fiesta, featuring two types of paella, a wide range of appetizing tapas and all-you-can drink white and red sangria. A portion of all proceeds from the event will go to Martha’s Kitchen in Willow Glen, an organization that has served more than 3 million meals since its inception in 1981.
Chef David is excited to be putting on his fourth Paella Fiesta. Last year’s was the best one yet and he’s anticipating an even better turnout this time around. “We’re presenting an incredible meal of all-you-can eat paella again this year and we’re also going to create some wonderful seasonal Spanish-influenced dishes,” Chef David explained. “A few years back, I took a culinary vacation to Spain and learned so much about paella, tapas and everything Spanish. I integrate much of what I discovered on that vacation into many of the dishes I serve at the Paella Fiesta.”
Chef David is also happy to support a cause like Martha’s Kitchen, an organization he has been helping for many years. “We’ve been working with Edita Cruz, their Executive Director and we’re really pleased to be donating to Martha’s Kitchen. Hunger is a problem everywhere and San Jose is surely no exception, so we want to help whenever we can.”
About Martha’s Kitchen
From day one, Martha’s Kitchen has had a simple mantra: “Feed the hungry with dignity, no questions asked, no judgment made.” The majority of all the meals served by this organization are hot and complete with soup, salad, roll, starch, a main dish, fruit and dessert.
In addition, Martha’s Kitchen distributes approximately 210,000 hot and cold meals annually to more than 25 other non-profit organizations in Northern California to support the hungry. People are astonished when they see that this “little soup kitchen that could” when it serves 250,000 meals annually with a lean staff of 6.5 employees. How do they do it? Because their passion shines through and explains why their clients say “Martha’s has the very best grub in town!”
